PittoPalette Helper
An extension for PittoPalette that enables automatic pasting. Entries you choose go straight into the app you are typing in.
What it changes
Without the Helper, your choice goes to the clipboard and you paste it with Command-V. With the Helper installed, choosing an entry puts it straight into the app you are typing in.
Installing
Install it from the disk image you download, then open it once and grant the permission.
Install PittoPalette Helper
Download it with the button above, then drag PittoPalette Helper onto Applications in the window that opens.
Open it and allow Accessibility
Double-click it in Applications, choose Allow, and turn on PittoPalette Helper in Privacy & Security > Accessibility. The permission goes to the Helper, not to PittoPalette. This is the only time you open it: from then on PittoPalette starts it when it is needed.
Check that it works
Back in the Helper, press Check Permission. It changes to say the Helper is working, and automatic pasting reads Available in PittoPalette's settings.
About the Accessibility permission
Pasting straight into the app you are typing in needs permission from macOS, and that permission goes to the Helper rather than to PittoPalette itself. Without the Helper, PittoPalette still works: your choice goes to the clipboard.
All the Helper does is post Command-V when PittoPalette asks it to. It never reads or changes another app's windows or contents, and what gets pasted is whatever is already on your clipboard.
Removing
Open PittoPalette Helper from Applications and choose Remove Helper.
Dragging PittoPalette Helper to the Trash does not undo its registration with macOS (it is listed under General > Login Items in System Settings, among the background items). Only PittoPalette Helper can undo it, so if you have already moved it to the Trash, put it back in Applications before opening it.
